The included data describe the distribution of western juniper (Juniperus occidentalis) in the state of Oregon. The Institute for Natural Resources at Portland State University (INR-Portland) produced these datasets using funding appropriated by the Oregon legislature. The products are based on an analysis of aerial and satellite imagery acquired in 2012 and 2013 and are representative of that timeframe. The outputs are delivered at 30 meter resolution, an appropriate scale for regional analysis, and for summarizing woodland and forest characteristics. The products cover all of Oregon east of the Cascade crest, as well as a substantial area west of the crest, especially in southern Oregon.
