This map delineates modified Core Sagebrush Areas and Growth Opportunity Areas in the state of Oregon based on the methodology outlined in the Doherty et al 2022 report “A Sagebrush Conservation Design to Proactively Restore America’s Sagebrush Biome” (https://pubs.usgs.gov/of/2022/1081/ofr20221081.pdf). These areas are intended to help partners in Oregon identify areas with large landscapes of intact sagebrush rangelands to implement proactive management under the strategy of “defend and grow the core”.The modifications in this Oregon-specific map include:i. Analysis focused solely on Core Sagebrush Areas and Growth Opportunity Areas in Oregon and does not include Other Rangelandsii. Converted the original dataset from raster to polygon to generalize the boundariesiii. Removal of small or disconnected Core Sagebrush Areas and Growth Opportunity Areasiv. Reclassification of the Cinder Butte fire area from Other Rangeland to Growth Opportunity Area based on local knowledge and post-fire monitoring data showing a positive trendv. Reclassification of moderate-high resistance & resilience areas in the Trout Creek Mountains from Other Rangeland to Growth Opportunity Areavi. Removal of Jordan Craters as a non-vegetated landscape
