Description: To show areas by major owner and by GAP status (1 being most protected, 4 being not protected). Additionally, the managed area / stewardship coverage has 3 fields addressing 1) management intent, 2) permanence, and 3) viability/vulnerability. The data should be displayed and analyzed at scales appropriate for 1:24000-scale data. Description As part of assisting ODFW in the development of the State Comprehensive Wildlife Conservation Plan (CWCP) for Oregon, the Oregon Natural Heritage Program developed a GIS coverage showing the distribution of Protected Areas in Oregon. This GIS layer representing the stewardship/management of Oregon was compiled from multiple sources and scales. This information has been updated periodically by The Nature Conservancy of Oregon for use in ecoregional assessment and other analysis. Also, data for "Potential for Management Effectiveness" was produced by TNC using the categorical assumption process. Credits There are no credits for this item. Use limitations The spatial information by ORNHIC was derived from a variety of sources. Care was taken in the creation of these themes, but they are provided "as is". The Oregon Natural Heritage Information Center (ORNHIC), Oregon State University, and the State of Oregon cannot accept any responsibility for errors, omissions, or positional accuracy in the digital data or underlying records.
