This map shows the extent of the active channel and other floodplain features for the Willamette River, Oregon, for the year 1850. The extent of the active channel and features such as alcoves, secondary channels, and islands were based on The Nature Conservancy's estimated natural vegetation of Willamette Valley (1851) land cover digital data. Water bodies (river and floodplain) were captured from the vegetation coverage and interpreted for channel type.
